Somehow, I got a bunch of beta WUs over the weekend. When will the beta server be back up so I can return them?

It seems to be back up since I completed and returned a workunit. :)

I see the beta server has gone back down, with lots of results still waiting to be returned. Is the plan to turn it back on, so we can return the results this time?

Yes, please enable the servers again long enough to get these results returned.

                          Good luck...

I gave up on them, and just detached for now. I am guessing that the "new guys" accidentally turned on the beta project, and *still* don't even realize it. Notice how how there are no stats being published?

Also, they created and released a PPC app (and THANKS for that!!), but it was done in parallel with releasing it here. And no one here was ever asked to attach PPC apps to evaluate.

There is no one home here on the beta site...

I am in the same boat - just over 200 WU's waiting to report on my machines and about 100 sitting in pending.

Looks like they are all a lost cause.

                              Hi,

First of all, thanks to all who helped us test our applications by running beta WU's. It has greatly helped us make sure our application runs stably on many different platforms.

We recently built a Mac OS X PowerPC executable and, as you also noticed, briefly turned on the abc-beta project so that we could test that the application properly worked within the BOINC framework. This did not require any further large-scale testing, in our view, so we performed this test using a small number of Macs we had access to ourselves.

I have to admit I'm fairly new at BOINC-project administration, and am therefore not sure how to deal with WU's that haven't been returned. Would it be possible for you to cancel the WU's you haven't returned yet, or is it easier if I enable the abc-beta project again for a while to let you return the WU's?

Finally, sorry for the confusion and delay in response caused by our internal personnel changes. I'll be monitoring these forums again regularly starting today.

                              Thanks,
                              -Willem Jan

                                Hi Willem

                                Welcome to the BOINC community.

It would be good if you could enable the server so that we can return the work we have done, if that is not possible now, as some are due back tonight and tomorrow, then we will cancel them.

Also, we havent had a stats update for a while so perhaps once these WUs waiting to be returned are sorted, you could do a stats update.

Welcome Willem and thanks for posting and for taking over administration of these projects.
The majority of outstanding wus could be returned by enabling the servers for a day or so as soon as possible, while leaving the work generator off.

A statistics update would be nice too but it could wait; it doesn't have a deadline like the unreturned wus do.

Welcome Willem and thank you for turning the servers back on for a short time.

This will enable people to return finished work (even though it may not get used) and will stop Boinc clients from continually trying to dial out to the project. I have at least one machine lock up because it couldn't do this.

Some people may already have deleted the unreturned work units, so a couple of days should be sufficient.

                                        Thank you again.

                                            Hi,

is it possible to turn the server back on for a day or two, so stats could be updated?

                                            Thx!

                                            +1

I see the server is back up, but the stuff in the stats dir is 6 months old.

Also, it would be good to run the RAC decay function.

The ABC main project is still active and less than 40% complete. It will be sending tasks (WUs) for many months.

The ABC beta project is for testing new applications for ABC main project. Although ABC beta is inactive at this time it could be reactivated any time they decide to test a new application. I suspect they would announce a reactivation. You could stop checking for beta tasks and wait for such an announcement.
