I've played around quite a bit with overclocking my E6750 & P35-DS3R and testing out performance on wu's. I have found that simple overclocking, e.g. 8*400 for 3.2ghz looks good, but it results in a serious degradation of performance from the base numbers. What worked best was setting these values but leaving speed stepping turned on, something most OCers say to disable. I've validated similar performance with 3dMark06 too. I then played around with my Vista performance settings. To my amazement, Vista OCed my system for me. Performance Options: Adjust for best performance in the Visual Effects tab and of programs in the Advanced tab. In Power Settings select High performance. Vista now has me running at 3.179 ghz and the Core Voltage and resulting heat are much reduced from any of my manual OC efforts. That's what I'm now running. I can't give you any ABC stats as I've just signed up, but I've done Reisels in just over 38 minutes. Reisel is a good, short wu to test an OC on. Their times are pretty stable. Einstein is another good stable one, but you need to time the clicks which is tedious and error prone. |
