Your personal background.
Stargazer, used to be in Physics and Math as an undergrad and graduate school. Since then in software until the big downturn in the early 90's. Now tutor math.

Still read Scientific American and ponder particle physics and the mathematical basis of it all. What is space-time-matter anyway?

If I had to guess today, I'd say a subset of complex n-space, with various group operations on it. And some funky stuff that isn't very clear. But what else is Nature when you don't understand everything, but funky?

For now the computer, esp. the Mac with its relative lack of s/w for programming, is basically just a fancy internet port that puts background music onto an IPOD and does a few other useful but un-glamorous things. It will be nice to see some protein folding and other useful stuff showing up. Seti maybe - with the upcoming demise of Aricibo, that seems to be a passing thing. Hopefully not, but we'll see.
Your opinions about ABC@home
I suppose whatever BOINC runs is ABC@home. ives me something to feel I'm contributing to in my computer's spare time, esp. now that I've upgraded its memory to be something over the minimum useable.
