The Importance of Building Your Family Home

October 21, 2022 by Lauren Palmer

They say that home is where the heart is. Although it is certainly true, there is no doubt that having a family home helps to make this even sweeter. A house, for a family, is more than just walls. It is where they will make memories that will make their life better, more at peace and serene. Choosing to have your family house build is the best way to start your couple’s life. Here is why.

Make it Your First Common Decision

If you are going to have your house built, many decisions will come into play. Where should it sit, what style should it be and how big, are all questions that you will have to ask yourselves, together. It is a great way to start sharing and accepting to let go of some of the control, to the benefit of your partner. The size of the house will depend on how many children you intend to have in the future, and so, that should be an interesting conversation as well.

When you have agreed on everything, and your project is about to start, make sure that you position a time lapse camera to record the construction of your house. Place it so that it catches the whole site and let it take pictures from the first shovel to the moment you first unlock the door, to go and live inside it. This type of camera takes a picture at a regular rate in time, so that in the end, when you play them rapidly, back to back, you get a video of how the house was built. This is something the couple can watch together, when they feel melancholic, or with the kids, so that they can see how their home was raised from the ground up.

The Place Where All Family Members Can Come Back To

A family home is much more than a place where you live. It is like another member of the family. The one that keeps you safe and protects you from the outside. It is the one location where everyone should be able to go back to, when they need comfort and to rest from difficult moments. It is almost like having a third genitor, as it takes on a similar role of protection. Those who have the privilege of living in the same house from the moment they are born, to the day they make their way to their own, definitely have an advantage over others who move around a lot.

It starts with the fact that they remain close to their childhood friends, throughout their youth, which is a stabilizing factor, especially for adolescents. It also means that they feel comfortable every day, as they know their home by heart. A happy family often runs a happy home as well, which brings friends and extended family members to its door, to celebrate special events.

There is no doubt that having your own house built will become a major advantage for you, but also for the children to come. Something to keep in mind.
