Why You Should Always Have a Repair Man On Speed Dial

August 31, 2017 by Lauren Palmer

The best advice that I have ever received when it comes to the subject of being a homeowner, was to have a solid list of contacts of people who could help you out in a crisis. This advice came into use very well last year when a storm caused damaged to the roof in the middle of the night and water came pouring through our home.

Thankfully I had the number on hand for Twin Cities Roof Repair Contractors Minnesota and they came out in no time at all to fix the problem. Now, in that moment I could of course have searched online to fond a roof repair specialist but who knows how quickly they could have responded and how much they would have charged me, thankfully I had already done my research and had the very best on speed dial. If you were in any doubt as to why you may need people like this on your contact list, here are just a few reasons why.

Always The Worst Time

Murphy’s law dictates that bad things will happen at the worst possible time, perhaps in the midst of a snowy winter, in the middle of the night or when you have just got back from vacation. Damage and problems in the house will almost always take place at a time when you are not ready for it, nor expecting it and for this reason it will assist you greatly to have someone ready at the other end of the phone that you know will help you out.

Prices

When something goes wrong and you weren’t ready for it, you are likely to call the first person that you can find to come and help you out.  The risk that you run when you call someone during your panic, is that you could very well be hiring someone who is way more expensive than others and who will charge you additional fees for a call out. If however, you have done your homework beforehand and identified the best company with the best price, you will not have to run this risk should something go wrong.

Relationship

It really helps to build relationships with local repair workers of all disciplines be it plumbing, gas fitting or roof repairs. Relationships such as these can help you out in terms of price and it will also ensure that the person you call, actually cares about the problem which you are facing.

No DIY

When something goes wrong in the house, many of us try to fix it ourselves instead of calling up someone that we don’t know, to fix the issue for us. This is all well and good but what inevitably happens is that we cause more damage than there was in the first place, and end up calling the stranger all the same, albeit at a higher cost of repair. In order to avoid this temptation to fix things yourself, make sure that you have someone on your contacts list that you can get hold of immediately.
