April 23, 2018 by Lauren Palmer

Is your closet full of stuff you don’t wear anymore? Don’t let it collect dust. Here are 5 tips to clear out your cluttered closet and sell your items for cash.

Do you have a cluttered closet, full of clothes, shoes, and handbags you no longer wear or use? Does it make you a little sick to your stomach to think about how much money you spent on these items?

Keep reading to learn how you can actually make some cash by clearing out your cluttered closets. Making back some of the money you spent is definitely possible!

Consignment Stores

Check out your local area for consignment stores that will take clothes, shoes, and handbags. Some of them will buy them outright from you and then sell them.

Others will allow you to consign, where they display your items for a certain amount of time and give you a percentage of the sale price if you sell the item.

Name brand clothing and shoes in good condition sell much better. The clothing should be relatively recent and be in season. Designer handbags also will be a quick seller if they’re in good condition and are less than a few years old.

Consignment Websites

Lots of consignment websites have been popping up online. Consignment sites, like Joli Closet, allow you display your items for sale. Some sites focus on luxury items, like Joli Closet, and sell upscale handbags, clothing, shoes, and accessories for both men and women.

Other sites, like ThredUp, sell clothes for kids and adults from upscale retailers and department stores. Smartphones make it super easy to sell on these sites. Just take a few photos, upload your items, and in a few minutes, your items are displayed for sale.

Facebook BST Groups or Facebook Marketplace

Facebook has also made it easy to sell your unwanted items. Many local areas have buy, sell, trade (BST) sites devoted to certain items, like kids toys and clothing or furniture.

The Facebook Marketplace is another option for selling items that doesn’t require you to join any groups. Anyone with a Facebook account can access the marketplace and list their items.

The Facebook marketplace is full of a huge variety of items, so get to cleaning your other cluttered closets. Home decor, bedding, kitchen tools and appliances, you name it.

eBay

Ebay is another site that has everything. Collectible items, new items still with tags, hard-to-find clothing and handbags. You name it, eBay has it.

It’s also a great place to sell clothing, shoes, and handbags that are all in good shape of course. Follow these secrets for selling on eBay and pocket some extra cash.
