Motivating yourself out of debt

March 29, 2018 by Lauren Palmer

When you want to achieve anything in life, you need to be motivated. Some people seem to be born with inbuilt motivation. These people usually live successful and motivated lives. Many become entrepreneurs, bringing opportunities for employment and betterment to others. But we are not all born with this talent. However, it doesn’t mean that you can’t teach yourself how to become motivated.

What is motivation, really?

Motivation can be defined as being the reason or reasons for acting or behaving in a particular way. It helps you to build a set of facts and/or arguments that can be used to support a specific proposal or initiative. The word “motivation” is a derivation of the word “motive,” and it is born of both conscious and unconscious behaviour.

Motivation is a driving force, and it can be harnessed to help us to realise specific life targets. In the business world, it is something to be valued, and for that reason, many people aspire to become motivated and to be able to motivate others.

It has become big business, and motivational speakers can be hired to make public presentations and conduct seminars. Companies like “Dawning Truth” specialise in teaching motivation techniques. Of course, not all of us can afford to attend these types of conventions, so it’s useful to be aware of the free advice that exists online – advice similar to the “Top 5-ways to get motivated” page on personal loans website ‘Wonga’.

Using motivation in your personal life

Motivation is not just something that you can only apply in terms of your business life. It’s something that you can make use of in your everyday, personal life. As an example, people often make New Year’s resolutions about things like giving up smoking or losing weight.

As well all know, such resolutions are very easy to make, but they are oh so difficult to achieve. This is when motivation makes all the difference. On the subject of weight loss and dieting, there is some very helpful information about how to stay motivated on the Glamour.co.za website.

Motivating yourself to become debt-free

Another area where motivation can be of enormous help is personal finance. Many people in South Africa get themselves in debt and experience difficulty in navigating their way out.

Because debt brings such relentless pressure to bear on the individual, it needs a particular kind of motivation to work your way out. It is why learning the secrets of personal motivation is so important.

An excellent place to start with understanding motivating your self out of debt is an article on the OUDS.co.za website entitled “How to motivate yourself to become debt- free.”

It’s well worth a read.
