How to Create a Feng Shui Bedroom

June 15, 2017 by Lauren Palmer

Feng Shui is a philosophical Chinese system which is seen to add peace and harmony to particular surroundings. The basis for this is the placement of furniture or pieces throughout your home which ensure that positive energy is allowed to easily pass through. One of the best places to start if you would like to get involved in adding feng shui to your home, is in the bedroom, the place where peace and relaxation is actively encouraged.

There are lots of little hints and tricks when it comes to adding a feng shui vibe to your bedroom and today we are going to take a look at just some of the ways in which you can achieve harmony in the bedroom.

Lose Electrics

There should be no TV, gadgets, computers or exercise equipment in your bedroom if you want in to become a place of peaceful sanctuary. These items provide a distraction as well as offering false lighting and EMF which can be harmful to you health and particularly harmful to your search for peace.

Air Quality

Air should circulate throughout your bedroom and you should be actively encouraging natural air to come into the house. Opening your windows or using an air purifier is a great way for you to make sure that you are breathing in fresh and healthy air, rather than recycled and polluted air. Resist the temptation to place plants in your bedroom for better air quality as the plants themselves are not recommended in a feng shui environment because the often act to close down the amount of space which you have.

Bed Rules

When it comes to the location of your bed, there are some guidelines which you will need to follow. Firstly, the bed should be easily approachable from both sides so no putting it against a wall, even if there is only you sleeping in it. Secondly, the bed should have a table to either side of the bed and finally you need to avoid having the bed lined up with your door. To further add to the feng shui in your bedroom, you should have a solid headboard, a supportive an comfortable mattress as well as high quality and fresh sheets and bedding.

Colors

The best colors to have in your bedroom are clean, light and fresh colors, you should avoid darks as they do not allow the energy to pass and you should avoid bright colors because they act as a distraction. When you are deciding upon colors for your bedroom, consider whites and pale colors, these will allow the energy to pass through the room as well as giving a positive and relaxing mood. The colors which are recommended are known as skin colors, these are known to have a far more natural and more tranquil effect on the bedroom.

With these simple tips you can turn your bedroom into a feng shui room and you will find that in no time at all, you will be relaxing more and sleeping better.
