Travel sickness or motion sickness is something which affects a great deal of people and can cause many problems for those people who are wishing to travel. The symptoms of motion sickness are often things like pale skin, sweating, nausea, vomiting and dizziness and for anyone who suffers from this, life can become pretty uncomfortable.
Travel sickness affects people differently, some may feel this in a car or on the plane, others may only feel it on boats and some feel it in all situations which involve movement. Usually these symptoms will disappear the more that you are exposed to the motion, but not in all cases. If you want to get rid of these symptoms for good, here are some tips on doing so.
Learn to Relax
Much of the symptoms of motion sickness are actually caused by the brain and in the hours leading up to travel, you may start feeling the symptoms. In order to avoid this, it will be important for you to relax, which means that you need to learn how to do so. Many people find that music helps out a great deal when trying to stay calm whereas others find that breathing exercises are the best way to relax, find your calm and avoid the symptoms.
Stable Objects
If there is a stable object which you are able to look at, this can help to significantly reduce your symptoms. For example, if you are on the deck of a boat or ship, then looking at the horizon can help to calm down the feeling of movement. If you are not able to do this then closing your eyes has been known to greatly help in reducing the symptoms.
Keeping Still
It is important that you try your best to keep your body still, even when you are on a moving vessel. You can use a headrest or pillows to maintain a still position if you are on a plane for example and if you are on a boat then try to find a stable seat as opposed to standing or walking around.
Medicine
There are many different types of medication which you can take to relive the symptoms of travel sickness. The most popular of these Hyoscine which acts as a relaxant for you and helps you to avoid the symptoms of motion sickness. Other medicines like antihistamines have also been known to help and there are some holistic therapies out there such as eating ginger which have been known to work, although there is no scientific evidence to show that. Others find that CBD oil can help reduce anxiety, which helps travelers feel better. And cannabis has long been used to relieve nausea in chemotherapy patients, but it can work to reduce travel sickness as well. If you are going to try this make sure to do so an hour or so before you travel, using either a vaporizer or a percolator bong, both of which provide cool and smooth ways to consume.
Things to Avoid
Reading, playing games and talking are all things that should be avoided when you are traveling in order to reduce the symptoms which you have. Equally it is important that you avoid to much walking around when you are on an aircraft or a boat to help you to minimize the sickly feeling and the dizziness which travel sickness can bring on.
