How to Relax While Pregnant: Tips and Ideas

June 17, 2019 by Lauren Palmer

When most people think about pregnancy, they assume that it gets harder as you go along – as the baby gets bigger. While this is true, some neglect to mention the weeks of nausea, emotional swings and tiredness that comes very early on in the pregnancy. Unfortunately, there isn’t a wonderful cure or prescribed medicine; the only cure from NHS.uk is to rest. You need to make time to have your feet up and accept help from those who offer it, as getting continually tired will make you feel more run down than your changing body does and end up in you feeling very low. Resting is good for your mental health as well as your body, but sometimes it can be difficult to relax and rest.

If you are incredibly tired and lacking sleep, an hour or so of rest can do you a world of good, and you’ll most probably embrace the opportunity. However, if you’re not particularly sleepy and aren’t fond of wasting time or being inactive, having to rest can make you fret time flying past without you using it well or at least in a way that brings you enjoyment. So, here are a few little ideas to help you to forget about everything that’s going on and make the most of your necessary relaxation time if you don’t want to fill it with sleep, that is.

Does anyone have a Switch?

The best and most accessible gaming console on the market has to be the Nintendo Switch. Not only can you play it on the TV or as a handheld device, but there is also an ocean of different games at different prices. There’s a game for pretty much everyone on the Nintendo eShop, including some relaxation-inducing games. As explained by Kotaku.com, one of the best games on the console is Stardew Valley. It’s easy to play, fun, and wonderfully relaxing while also being complex enough to keep you wanting to play more. Best of all, if it is your friend’s or child’s Switch, you can quickly and easily make a new profile for free to keep your save games separate from others.

Simple and fun games

The reason why we’ll be sticking with the game theme is that the entertainment medium is incredibly accessible and an enjoyable way to help you relax. One of the easiest yet most enjoyable games to play for a long time has been bingo. Bingo online at LuckyPantsBingo.com is fit for anyone in need of some relaxing gaming. With games ranging from free-to-play to $0.50 in buy-ins, anyone can test their numbers at any time with online bingo. To enhance the offering, online bingo also provides online slot games, just in case you want to test your luck on the spin.

Find your next binge

Sometimes, you’re too tired to read or game but don’t want to simply do nothing because that would be boring. In these times, you can turn to the massive world of online streaming. Both Amazon Prime and Netflix are loaded with movies and series, many of which are very binge-inducing. Netflix has become famous for its huge selection of series to binge, but searching through them can be tiresome. Luckily, the best series have been listed by Independent to help you quickly ease into relaxation mode, including shows like Stranger Things, Better Call Saul, Black Mirror, Narcos, The Crown, Love, Glow, and many others.

So, when the times comes that you want to fill your much-needed relaxation time with something other than sleep, see if there’s a game on the Switch that you like, test your lucky numbers with online bingo, or find an easy show to binge on Netflix.
