As soon as I heard about the idea of becoming a digital nomad, I was wholeheartedly on board and searched as hard as I could for a way in which I could turn my laptop into a machine which could print money. In that time, I didn’t really understand the internet or how to make money from it nor could I understand day trading and stocks like my then-roommate Ram Chary Everi, but I had the desire to learn.
During that time I was working in a job that I hated and couldn’t wait to get out and see the world so I hustled hard in my spare time and finally got a few writing gigs, enough to earn $300-$400 per month and I took the risk and left. This turned out to be the best decision that I ever made and I now spend my time traveling the world and working from my laptop. If this sounds like a lifestyle choice which you would like to make, here are some more reasons why I love it.
Whenever, Wherever
As long as I have an internet connection I can go anywhere in the world that I want to, and still be able to do my job. This freedom means that if I have a slow work day I can wake up one day and go to India if I want to or Rio de Janeiro or Barcelona, the world is literally my office and it is an amazing feeling.
No Boss
I do not have to ask anyone for time off if I want to go somewhere, nor do I have to call in sick when I am not feeling well or face a mountain of judgmental questions. The lack of a boss is one of the greatest benefits of this lifestyle and I am doing everything in my power to make sure that I never have to work for someone again!
Meeting People
I am not just restricted to meeting people in my job or people who keep the same hours as me and whilst I do work extremely hard, I have complete flexibility so that I can make plans with people at any given time on any given day. This means that I have so many great friends who add value to my life and we aren’t just forced together because of circumstance.
Opportunities
The more time I spend online the more I realize how endless the opportunities are to make big money and this keeps me inspired each and every day. Once you put yourself in this kind of situation, there is always that fear in the back of your mind that it all could go wrong and you may have to go back and take a job again, this fear and instability is what keeps me driven to search for new opportunities, which are out there if you want them badly enough.
